Annotation

The Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management Guide for Defense Acquisition Programs provides risk management guidance for the program management practitioner and is the product of an effort led by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering (ODASD(SE)).

The guide reflects lessons learned on the application of risk management on past programs. This guide has been structured to provide a basic understanding of risk management concepts and processes. It offers descriptions and concise explanations of core steps to assist in managing risks in acquisition programs. It focuses on risk planning, identification, analysis, handling (including risk assumption, avoidance, mitigation, and transfer), and monitoring. It emphasizes the management of not only program risks but also issues and opportunities.
