Dr. Ulrich Lenk (Uli) received an engineering diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) for Surveying Engineering and Geodesy from the University of Karlsruhe (nowadays Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Germany, in 1994. Afterwards he completed an FIG/IHO Level A postgraduate diploma in Hydrographic Surveying at the University of Plymouth, UK, in 1995. He had a short stay at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany, including an expedition into the Greenland Sea on RV Polarstern before joining the Institute of Cartography at the Leibniz University in Hanover, Germany. His doctoral thesis was submitted in 2001 and discussed multidimensional spatial data structures. Since 2002 he is affiliated with Airbus and its predecessor organizations. He has been working on strategic satellite reconnaissance systems, ISR ground segments, border security and maritime domain awareness projects in various systems engineering and technical management positions. Since several years Uli serves as Expert Geospatial Solutions at Airbus and he received his INCOSE CSEP in 2014.
