Annotation
Researchers and practitioners must extend the discipline that has applied engineering principles to the development of software and software-intensive systems to provide the same value to the design and evolution of enterprises. This is a seminal article that explains how this can be done.
It discusses the need for bringing together the independent bodies of knowledge to establish and embody validated best practices within standards. The resulting discipline would significantly benefit global enterprises by providing common language, skills, and tools that would in turn increase enterprise value.
