Discussion

Except in a few cases, an organization's primary purpose is to produce complex systems (products or services) - which requires systems engineering capability to do succesfully. In the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge, we want to focus on the capability to do SE to meet the organization purpose. The original definition of "the capability of an organization in performing systems engineering" was little limited. For example, it may be that there are organizations that deliver very well by use of capabilities other than just good SE (effective firefighting, a very unique / superior technology that differentiates). Therefore the phrase "to contibute to meeting the organizational purpose" has been added.
