This article describes the motivation for the Journal of Enterprise Transformation, articulates its objectives, and provides examples of research hubs around the world that are helping define the scope of the field. It also introduces the inaugural issue of the journal – volume 1, issue 1 – which contains three articles that identify and compare theories of enterprise transformation across various domains. Finally, a discussion on the role of professional societies in this endeavor is supported by a comparison of existing journals in industrial and systems engineering and the Journal of Enterprise Transformation.
