Introduction to SE Transformation

Whilst the primary focus of the SEBoK is on the current practice of domain independent systems engineering, it is also concerned with the future evolutions of the discipline.

The topics in this Knowledge Area (KA) summarise SE knowledge which is new to the SEBoK. This may be a topic covered in part across the SEBoK but not brought together as an area of knowledge in its own right, such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Or it may be a new area of knowledge for the SEBoK, such as domain specific extensions of SE. In general topics will be introduced here and then expanded into other SEBoK KAs over time.

The knowledge covered in this KA is also related to the transformation of SE away from its traditional roots. This notion of SE transformation and the other areas of knowledge which it includes is discussed briefly below.
